Who was Vladimir Malakhiev
Malakhiev was born in 1902. Aged just 18, he arrived in Kazashko from post-revolutionary Russia and married Uliyana, a Lipovan woman. According to the stories, he briefly grew a beard to be accepted by the Old Believers. But he won their respect with a Cossack sabre dance by the lake.
He was mayor from 1944 to 1966. During his time the village got electricity (1950) and drinking water (1956). The school and community centre buildings were built. Malakhiev also witnessed the first mixed marriages between Cossacks and Bulgarians.
