On 14 October Kazashko celebrated its church feast day, the Holy Protection of the Mother of God (Pokrov). The church opened its doors again and the sound of bells rang out over the village once more. The bells had been silent for more than 5 years.
The Divine Liturgy began at 8:00, followed by a church lunch from 11:30. Men's and women's Orthodox crosses were also on offer in the church for 4 euros each.
The donation box collected 460 euros. Part of it covered the transport and fee of the priest and the hypodeacon, and the rest went towards the church lunch. Residents also donated baked fish and potatoes.
The mayor's office thanked everyone who gave time and money, helped with the lunch and with cleaning the churchyard and the church, and attended the liturgy. Old photos of the feast over the years were also shared in memory of residents who have passed away. “The tradition continues!”
