On 22 February 2026, Sirni Zagovezni, Kazashko held the traditional festival of Maslenitsa. The mayor's office invited everyone to the village centre on Sunday from 12:00, with the words “It is important to be together on this day!”
According to the organisers, the cold weather gave way to the festive mood and even the sun came out. The children enjoyed games and songs.
What is Maslenitsa
Maslenitsa is an old Russian festival for seeing off winter. In Kazashko it coincides with the Bulgarian Sirni Zagovezni (Cheesefare Sunday), the day of forgiveness before Great Lent. By tradition, people bake blini (pancakes) with honey, dance the horo and burn an effigy of Grandma Winter so that spring comes sooner.
