Kazashko's church feast: borscht, church bells and memories
On 14 October Kazashko celebrated its church's feast day, the Feast of the Holy Protection (Pokrov), with a shared meal, borscht and church chants.

On 14 October 2023 Kazashko marked the feast day of its church, the Feast of the Holy Protection (Pokrov). In the village they call it “the day of our childhood”, with the smell of oshav and borscht and the ringing of church bells.
By old custom, every stranger is welcomed as a guest at the table. Villagers made borscht and desserts for the shared lunch, and Old Believer chants rang out in the old church.
“Save and preserve, O God, our elders… They are that living thread,” wrote the mayor's office.
